Mr. Lewis Purdie Obituary

With tender hands of compassion and genuine hearts of love, the Majestic Family joins with the devoted loved ones of Mr. Lewis Purdie as they prepare to say “until we meet again."  Mr. Purdie was greeted by his loving Savior Jesus Christ along with others in the Heavenly Host on August 1, 2018 as he quietly left Cape Fear Valley Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown, NC.

Services remembering a Life Well-Lived will begin with a public gathering and visitation on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 between the moments of 5pm and 7pm at the funeral establishment, where Mr. Purdie will lie in repose. The events will climax with a Service of Remembrance on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 3pm at Mt. Olive AME Zion Church in Elizabethtown, NC.  The Pastor Haywood Oliver will be the Celebrant-in-Chief. Afterwhich, Mr. Lewis and his adored family will be escorted to the Mt. Olive Cemetery for Commital Rites.  It is in this place that his physical temple will remain until time is called into eternity and those who are sleep in Christ will rise first to meet Him in the air.

Lewis leaves to cherish his fond memories:  one son:  Desmond Cox of New Bern, NC; three sisters:  Virginia Harris, Marie Lewis and Veta Purdie, all of Philadelphia, PA; one brother:  Richard Purdie of Philadelphia, PA; one aunt:  Willie Mae McKoy of Elizabethtown, NC; a special and close friend:  Lula (Carolyn) Mckoy;  a special family:  Consuelo Washington (Tracy), Calvin McKoy (Quantanette), Anthony McKoy (Deanna); nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
