Mr. Larry Waddell Obituary

Our family at Majestic Funeral Homes, joins with the Waddell family to inform those concerned that Mr. Larry Waddell permanently changed his address from Earth to Glory on Friday, August 5, 2022 while at his residence in Riegelwood, NC.

Larry James Waddell was born on October 5, 1948, to Fleta Bell Brooks (mother) and Wilbert Norris Waddell (father). He was raised in the town of Bolton, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Armour High School, Class of 1966, which is where he met his wife, Edith.

Edith S. Waddell remembers seeing him for the first time in 9th grade and thinking, "What a MAN!" How right she was. Over 52 years of marriage, they had three children – Tiphane, Larry, and Britany, who share the joy of memories in the home he built in Riegelwood, North Carolina.

Larry was a Vietnam-era veteran of the United States Army. After his military service, he worked at Federal/International Paper, where he retired after 45 years.

In his downtime, he was fond of all things outdoors. He was a marksman, an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing.

He was an excellent protector, provider, and a man of incredible generosity. His wife adored him, his children loved and respected him, and his siblings, their families, and his friends cherished him. Larry's example of fatherhood, husbandry, and manhood will continue through his son, affectionately known as "Lil Larry". His daughters, Tiphane and Britany, will continue to measure the worth of a man next to the memory of their father, who always let them know they were his treasure. The closeness he ensured his family shared, the memories they made together, and the love they had for and received from him will fill the space created by his passing.

Larry departed this life the morning of August 5, 2022, in the comfort of his own home. His wife and children had the privilege of showering him with affection to usher him into forever.

Larry was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony Brooks, Gregory Waddell, and Rufus Waddell.

Larry's memory will continue to live through those left behind. He is survived by his steadfast wife, Edith S. Waddell; Daughters, Tiphane F. Waddell and Britany J. Waddell; Son, Larry J. Waddell II (Wife, Tisha S. Waddell); Grandchildren, Naliyah, Mahya, RaVielle, Peyton, Aiden, and Aaron; Great-grandson, Alexander; Father, Wilbert Norris Waddell; Mother, Fleta Bell Brooks; Brothers, Ronnie Waddell and John Brooks; Sisters, Theresa Waddell, Cynthia Waddell, Adriane Waddell, Erica Harris, Denise Waddell, Julia Murphy, Queen Graham, Sandra Brooks, Janice Montgomery, Barbara Robinson, Patricia Brooks. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to celebrate his life.
