As all remain in extreme sorrow and astonishing disbelief, the Majestic Funeral Home Family has been charged with the solemn responsibility to announce that Mr. Gary Eugene Hackett has transitioned from this life into life eternal. Gary made this permanent change of address on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown, NC.
Mr. Gary was born on January 23, 1957 to the late Wilbur and Patricia Hackett.
Mr. Gary's career consisted of being a roofing general contractor as well as a foreman at Lobar Associates located in Dillsburg, PA. While there, he coached youth football for thirteen years. He relocated from Dover, PA to Elizabethtown, NC to retire and enjoy the "Southern Hospitality."
he enjoyed country music, metal detecting, fishing, hunting (whitetail-Idaho and black bear-Canada) with his walker coonhounds and beagles. He was also a Nascar fan and Dale Earnhardt was his favorite. He started homesteading with his son whom he loved dearly.
Gary always had a favorite saying," I AM ALWAYS RIGHT! TELL ME ONE TIME I WAS WRONG!"
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, and a dear friend, Keith Heist.
Left to cherish his memories are one son: Brandon Hackett; one sister: Karen Heist; one nephew: Chad Heist (Jess); two nieces: Keira and Caylee; a loving companion: Sandra Snyder; "Pappy" to Alina and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.
