With humbled hearts and consoling minds, the Majestic Funeral Home Family serves notice that Bishop Melvin Herman Shird has layed down the cares of this world in Cape Fear Valley Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown. From there, he picked up his new wardrobe and golden keys for his  everlasting life in Heaven.

On Friday beginning at 11 I’clock in the morning, mourners may visit with Bishop Shird’s devoted wife and family at the funeral establishment for moments of reflection. Beginning promptly at 12noon, the things that were on the “dash” of Bishop Shird’s Life and Legacy will be celebrated with a Triumphant Farewell Ceremony in the A.B. Hobbs Memorial Chapel on the campus of Majestic Funeral Home. For many years this man of God has preached his prayer and drew sinners to a saving God. Now all can find peace knowing he is now sitting at the welcome table hearing the Master say “Well-Done” thou good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over the things on earth, now I will make you ruler over many.

800 Fox St., Elizabethtown, is the residence in which this precious family is receiving guests during this difficult time.
